Our company, Galleria Reino Co., Ltd. (formerly Hiroshima Tomita Co., Ltd.), which deals in art supplies and picture frames, was founded on April 1, 1942, and has been working alongside people involved in art for 82 years now. In December 2016, we moved our main store from in front of the Chuden Head Office in Otemachi, Naka Ward, to 11-46 Kaminoboricho, near the Prefectural Art Museum, making it convenient for artists and art lovers to visit, and we now have an art gallery within the store.

Mr. Miyatake Yutaka is a Buddhist monk who is also involved in early childhood education at kindergartens, an oil painter, and a renowned collector. He has now decided to hold an exhibition of his collection, showcasing the paintings he has collected over the years.

The works on display are by deceased artists with ties to Hiroshima, and the exhibition aims to bring back to life precious works that are unlikely to be seen in the future, including those by Minami Kunzo (1883-1950), a master of modern Japanese Western-style painting who was born in Yasuura-cho, Kure City. We invite those who love Hiroshima and the art of Hiroshima nurtured by these artists, as well as those who are interested in creating beauty, to come and see the exhibition.

Active in the Hiroshima Western painting world before the war. Founding Hiroshima branch chief of the Toko-kai in 1932. Died in 1979 at age 80.

3. Kunzo Minami "Autumn view of Lake Ashino" Oil on wood panel F6 framed Made in 1945

Born in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture. A master of prewar Japanese Western painting. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1907.

Member of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, Professor at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts, died in 1950 at age 67

4. Hamasaki Sagako "Waterfall" Color on paper, colored paper, framed

Born in Hawaii. Returned to Hiroshima at age 3. Judge for Hiroshima Prefectural Art Exhibition from the first exhibition. Died in 1989 at age 77.

5. Masayuki Nakara "Narcissus" Color on paper, colored paper, framed

A leading figure in the Hiroshima art world in watercolor painting. Founding professor of the art department at Hijiyama Junior College. Died in 1977 at age 74.

Studied at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art University Sculpture Department and the Kyoto Art Museum. Member of the Japan Creative Print Association. Evacuated to Kazahaya, Hiroshima Prefecture until 1971. Died in 1978 at age 89.
