What kind of frame should I use for canvas artwork? | What is an oil painting frame?
Oil painting frames are suitable for displaying artworks painted on canvas.
Sizes are indicated by numbers, and most are size F.
P and M sizes also exist, and these are often made to order.
The size is written on the back of the canvas, such as F6.
Most of them have genuine edges and are made of wood.
It consists of ① frame, ② glass or acrylic, ③ liner, and ④ backboard. The artwork is fitted between the liner and the backboard so that the surface of the painting does not come into contact with the acrylic.
Also, if you are placing a thick piece of artwork, you can attach a piece of wood called a doroashi to the back of the frame to add depth.
② Acrylic is more common and is less likely to break even if dropped than glass, so it is recommended.

Points to consider when choosing : If you choose a frame with a thick border or a liner, the size of the actual work will be larger than it actually is, so if you are thinking of purchasing a frame that is not too large, it is best to choose one with a thin liner.
★Even ready-made canvases can have distortions, so we recommend that you measure the size carefully on all sides before purchasing.
